How To Tie a Tie

  • Start with the tie around your neck, with the wide end on your right and the narrow end on your left.
  • The wide end should hang about 12 inches lower than the narrow end.
  • Take the wide end and cross it over the narrow end, forming an “X” near your collar.
  • Bring the wide end behind the narrow end and back to the front on the left side.
  • Wrap the wide end around the narrow end again, crossing it from left to right.
  • Pull the wide end up through the loop around your neck.
  • Tuck the wide end down through the front knot you’ve created.
  • Hold the narrow end and gently pull the wide end down to tighten the knot.
  • Adjust it by sliding the knot up to your collar, making it snug.
