what it takes to be a social media influencer.

There are many strategies and theories about how some social media influencers become famous and powerful. I have studied the many ways social media influencers hack the algorithm and become famous overnight. With these 5 simple tricks and minimum effort you to can be living the good life tommorrow. From paying for views to monetizing normal life struggles, you must have no shame in order to make it as an influencer. Here are some of the many ways social media influencers gain a larger influence in order to turn a profit:

  1. Content- Many social media influencers post “creative” content throughout the day allowing more exposure to the current followers they have as well as potential followers. This can include: going to Starbucks and having a unique interaction, posting about a nice car, or coming up with interesting content that is unique.
  2. Clout chasing- This a way of getting more followers by calling out or publicly challenging an influencer with a larger following or accepting money to feed into the “public” drama. This is usually done in an attempt to stay relevant or get oneself back in the public sphere.
  3. Paying for views- Yes, many influencers and public figures usually pay to have more exposure by purchasing ads that will give a mention to that brand name. Paying to be in another influencers content can also be considered “paying for views,” since you are paying for exposure to someone else’s followers.
  4. Pander- Many influencers will pander to a certain demographic or culture in order to tap into the profit potential. Whenever a specific holiday comes around the influencer might want to show appreciation for other cultures by posting about it or celebrating with specific demographic content. Influencers will almost certainly work with other influencers that hold different demographic, in order to relate and pander to a potential market.
  5. Documenting normal life struggles- Some influencers may go to far and document their life struggles in order to profit. This occurs when a usually volatile or dramatic influencer will post content about their personal life struggles that happen to them in order to pander to other people who may have also had the same type of personal/physical issue. This can be an effective tool, but you must be especially shameless to follow through with this method.

This list is incredibly opinion based and is in no way calling any specific influencers, but if you look hard enough you can start to notice what influencers do to maintain a certain level of public exposure. Whether it’s paying for the exposure or creating really interesting content, you can sleep better at night knowing that you too can be an influencer.
